Jul 4    I Have a Voice; Robertson County History Museum
I have A Voice: Tennessee's African American Musical Heritage Exhibit 

The Robertson County History Museum will be hosting a wonderful new exhibit and on loan from the Tennessee State Museum entitled I Have A Voice: Tennessee's African American Musical Heritage Exhibit. The exhibit will open on Wednesday, May 9 and run through July 11. The exhibit will focus on the impact Tennessee's African-American music had on popular music in America and the world. From early blues icons such as Bessie Smith and W. C. Handy who influenced the folks at STAX Records who gave us Otis Redding, the Bar-Kays, and Albert King and others. Visitors to the museum will be able to stream performance recordings on their smart phones and to see original artifacts. 
 
On May 10 - May 12 the exhibit will be open to the public from 12 pm - 4 pm. Then on May 16 - 18  the exhibit will be open to the public from 12 pm - 4 pm.The shortened hours at the museum are due to the morning Fourth Grade Tours from Robertson County Elementary Schools. On May 22 the exhibit will be available to the public during normal hours for the museum which are 10 am  - 4 pm Wednesday - Friday throughout the run of the exhibit.
